About
John Foster is a 19-year-old country singer and songwriter from Addis, Louisiana, known for his rich baritone voice, honest storytelling, and unmistakable neo-traditional sound. As the American Idol Season 23 runner-up, he’s quickly become one of country music’s most exciting young voices, blending the heart of ’80s and ’90s country with a fresh but faithful modern edge.
Raised in a tight-knit Louisiana community, John grew up surrounded by country music and developed a deep love for it early on. Still, his path initially pointed elsewhere. A co-valedictorian of Brusly High School, he went on to study biology at Louisiana State University with plans to pursue a career in oncology. In early 2023, following a personal loss, he wrote “Tell That Angel I Love Her,” a song that marked a turning point in his songwriting and would later connect with audiences across the world.
Since Idol, John has stepped into a full-time career on the road, playing headline shows and festivals nationwide. His touring résumé includes bills with artists including Clint Black, Carrie Underwood, and Hank Williams Jr., and he has written songs with some of Nashville’s most respected songwriters, including Bill Anderson, Tim Nichols, and Dan Tyler.
He made his Grand Ole Opry debut on June 7, 2025, and has since become a recurring guest on country music’s most revered stage. With continued appearances at the Opry, a Ryman Auditorium debut, and a nationally televised performance in the Rose Parade, John is building a reputation as a young artist deeply committed to carrying country music forward the right way.
Grounded in his Christian faith and Louisiana roots, John brings sincerity, gratitude, and conviction to everything he does. With a sound shaped by the legends and songs rooted in real life, he’s connecting with audiences who are looking for something true and helping lead a new generation of traditional country.
